Amethyst on Quartz var. Japan law (M1279)
Madagascar
LOCATION
Andilamena, Alaotra-Mangoro, Madagascar
SIZE
29 x 28 x 25 mm
DESCRIPTION
Japanese law twins are generally very rare. In fact they should called French law twins, as they were discovered in 1829 by a German mineralogist at La Gardette in France. Caused by the mayor discoveries on Honshu island around 1900 they got their name. Meanwhile samples from Nepal are probably the best. But now there is this unique discovery on Madagascar - Japanse law twins with razor sharp terminated, highly lustrous and intense purple Amethyst zepters on it. This one is exceptional for the size - only a fist full of crystals reached this dimension and it has two rectangular inter-grown Japan Laws at the base.
