Calcite (M1298)
China
LOCATION
Hunan, China
SIZE
124 x 79 x 61 mm
DESCRIPTION
A very attractive cluster of calcite from China. The specimen consists of dozens of well developed crystals that form an impressive and densely packed crystal group.
The crystals are sharply defined and display a bright vitreous luster. Their rich red coloration gives the entire piece a strong visual presence and makes it an immediate eyecatcher in any collection.
Calcite is one of the most versatile and widespread minerals, known for forming an extraordinary variety of crystal habits and colors depending on the conditions during growth. Specimens with such an intense red coloration combined with well formed crystals are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain from these localities. With its strong color, size, and crystal development, this piece represents a particularly attractive display specimen.
