Since the 1930s, minerals, primarily fluorite but also calcite, barite, and quartz, have been sought at this site near the coast of Asturias. Several small companies, most of them not particularly well-funded, and, for many decades, private collectors have tried their luck there. However, collecting has been prohibited for many years, and the deposit has now been reclaimed by nature. All the material available today comes from old finds. This specimen combines the quality criteria that are decisive for Berbes: large crystals of extraordinary transparency, excellent luster, and sharp zoning in violet and blue tones that are rarely found elsewhere. A beautiful piece in very good condition.
