Rhodochrosite (M915)

€1,242.00

When collectors think of Peruvian rhodochrosite, the Uchucchacua Mine and the Huayllapon Mine probably come to mind first. The San Martin Mine, also known as the Chuiricu Mine, is more associated with rhodonite. These were found in the 1990s and are considered to be the best in the world. Rhodochrosite has only been found there very rarely and is extremely rare. At the center of the specimen is a completely free-standing main crystal with a diameter of 22 mm. It is sharp-edged all around and fully formed, with a silky luster and bright red color. Several smaller crystals are located in front of it. The contrast with the almost black manganese matrix and the composition with the exposed main crystal give the specimen a very aesthetic appearance.
