Scheelite from the Alps is a great rarity – but it is even rarer from Söllnkar. Söllnkar is located in the Krimml Aachental valley. It rises up on the left side of the valley, just behind Europe's highest waterfalls. It has practically the same geology as the Knappenwand on the opposite side of the mountain range in the Untersulzbachtal valley, and epidote can also be found here. Scheelite, on the other hand, is an exception and is highly prized among collectors who specialize in alpine minerals. This crystal is both sharp-edged and highly lustrous! It is almost flawless and very transparent.
