Baryte (1271)

Sale Price:€0.00 Original Price:€740.00
sold out

LOCATION

Les Cèdres mine, Les Malines District, Saint-Laurent-le-Minier, Gard, Occitanie, France

SIZE

83 x 66 x 33 mm

DESCRIPTION

This is one really famous French classic. The locality also produced Azurite, Calcite, Tetrahedrite and pretty good Bornounite specimen, but only for Baryte it became famous. You cannot compare with common white Baryte roses from Spain or US - these roses are really white, there is no touch of color and they always consist of micro crystals, which are all lustrous - these spheres are completely sparkling. In this case the exposed and complete main crystal (or better - main ball) is 37mm across. The matrix is completely covered with also lustrous tiny Sphalerite crystals - they expose a dark red-brown color under artificial light - the contrast is wonderful. I always loved this material, but quantity is not really high and overall I had only about 5 to 10 specimen over the years and this one is the most attractive one.
