Apatite (M712)
Czech Republic

LOCATION
Dolní Bory, Bory, Žďár nad Sázavou District, Vysočina Region, Czech Republic
SIZE
66 x 64 x 26 mm
DESCRIPTION
The Granite pegmatites in the area are situated in the Moldanubian complex of the Bohemian Massif, the old shafts and mines are closed and/or collapsed. Discoveries are very rare - field collectors can only dig in the forest around the old mines. The apatite crystals from there are usually green and dark - this one is exceptional for so many reasons. It shows luster like procelain - the twinned crystals (the aggregate is 25mm from left to right hand side, 23mm tall and 26mm from front to back-side) are complete and razor sharp terminated 360°. They are completely exposed on a thin plate which is covered with tiny sparkling Albite crystals, which show a light pink color. The specimen is in fantastic condition and on same high quality all around.
