Brazilianite (1508)

€0.00

LOCATION

Córrego Frio mine, Linópolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Minas Gerais, Brazil

SIZE

44 x 30 x 25 mm

DESCRIPTION

This material was discovered in 1940. Of course there were many new material during the decades - but the old ones from the origin discovery were the best. So the color is the best proof to identify it as part of the origin discovery. In 1942 the locality was just a small open pit and the discoverer were just speaking about an intense yellow, impressive gem-stne. It´n 1945 it was classified as new mineral and became named „Brazilianite“ - so this is the type-locality.
the locality is a relatively (for Brazil) small pegmatite - only about 3 meters thick at the surface and if you dig into the ground only 1,5 meters thick - so this material is very very rare. Usually you can get single crystals - matrix-pieces are exceptional. And this is not only a matrix-sample; it is crazy good. Perfect balance, perfect quality: very best luster you can imagine at all faces all around, razor sharp termination all around, not even a minor contact, no damage, no chip. The assemble is also not a result of trimming - the Albite matrix is natural and also developed sharp and lustrous faces. And depending on the angle you look at it, the Brazilianite shows wonderful vicinal faces. Everything on this piece is highest perfection and finest quality; even developed as floater
