Usually Austrian Titanites come from Salzburg County, this one is from Tyrol - so there first important indicator is the locality. Usually alpine Titanites are green - second important indicator is the intense brown color. I used minor backlight for the photo to show the intensity, the cognac-like tones of brown and also shades of yellow. The free-standing, twinned main crystal is 22mm across, it shows excellent luster and razor sharp termination, set in the center of the piece. Translucency and clarity are best, the crystal has the character of glass. All brown Titanite crystals from Tyrol came from only one discovery - this stuff is unique! 22mm is an exceptional dimension for this discovery, the largest crystal I had seen from Kristallwand was 24mm. The assemble is well balance and very aesthetic. An isolated main crystal on matrix, rare locality, very eye-catching - based on these parameters I thought it would fit even in best collections.
