Tourmaline (598)

Golconda pegmatite, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

9,6 x 1,8 x 1,6 cm

The specimen represents a great rarity, the locality didn´t produce much Tourmalines and it is decades ago - I guees the mine is non-productive since 1965. So Torumaline from Golconda is generally rare, and a crystal in this dimension is exceptional. At the base you can see a sharp pink phantom, the middle shows many different shades of green, to end point there are zones of light pink and finally a concentration of nearly orange color. The crystal shows excellent, high lustre. At the end point the termination is not sharp, there are tiny steps along the edges. Minor chips are present and a small contact at the backside, but in very good condition overall! And again – the locality is very special and rare! The green-tones are uncommon and very different to other localities, also I like the orange concentration at the end point and the pink phantom. Really a very special crystal and an opportunity to get a rare, eye-catching crystal.
