Fluorite, Dolomite (601)

Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Hunan Province, China

10,3 x 7,7 x 5,5 cm

First of all: my photography doesn´t do justice to this amazing specimen. The Fluorite crystals show glassy character, all their faces are highly lustrous and on the second image I tried to show their beautiful texture. All faces seem to consist of tiny squares. The color is intense blue with some lavender zoning and darker violet saturation along the edges. The termination of all edges is very sharp. Along the edges of the specimen you can see a framing of beige, shapr developed Dolomite crystals. The main crystal is 49mm on edges and undamaged. One side crystal shows a damage at the corner. A part of the bottom and of the backside was extracted from the rock. Overall a very colorfull, lustrous and well balanced specimen and more tridimensional in person.
