Fluorite (284)

Hilton Mine, North Pennines, Westmorland, UK

10,8 x 4,8 x 4,2 cm

Very rare material from Northern England. Hilton Mine is defunct and last good pieces came decades ago. Maybe this mine produced the very best yellow Fluorites ever and the particular specimen represents very high quality, even for Hilton. The clarity of the crystals is very fine. Crystals are lustrous and sharp terminated and up to 15mm on edges. The matrix is like a plate, but the crystals form a very 3-dimensional assemble. Minor chips are present, were it was extracted from the rock – center is undamaged
