Fluorite (243)

Hollwell Mine, Weardale, North Pennines, Durham Co., UK

14,5 x 9,2 x 4,8 cm

The locality represents a great rarity, the specimen came out of an old collection from a local miner who digged in the area for over 4 decades - after all this time he had only a fist full of specimen from this particular mine. The main crystal is 35mm on edges. All crystals are etched but glossy and sharp terminated. They show good daylight fluorescence and appear in strong violet colour. No significent damages to report.
